You've got to love big city commutes... or not. Just when you get up to speed 200 sets of tail lights go on at the same time in a red blaze of glory signaling you to slow it down and get comfortable because you're going to be here awhile. As the temperature gauge on your car rises, so too does your frustration level.
Waiting in line. It's never a joyful experience for me. After all I have places to be, people to see and things to do. Waiting is a waste of my time, right? Surely, Jesus would be just as frustrated as me... or would he?
What did Jesus do when he was put in a situation where he had to wait? He took a nap. He rested. He redeemed the moment i.e. no wasted time.
The next time you find yourself stuck, waiting or in a place of no movement, redeem the time. Could it be that God has allowed you that moment to rest, pray, think or restore? Bring intentionality and purpose into what might have been a wasted moment or season. Acknowledge Jesus in the time of waiting and you will discover a purpose for it.
Stuck in traffic? Worship. Stuck in a line at the DMV, Target or Walmart? Pray. Stuck in a season of life with no apparent movement? Stand on the promises. A waiting moment does not have to be a wasted moment. Redeem the time for the glory of Christ.
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:15-16
