Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. ESV
Today is a federal holiday. It is a day we honor and celebrate the
life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His "I Have a Dream"
speech is one of the most quoted speeches in history. Tomorrow, we
will witness the fulfillment of Dr. King's dream as President Elect
Barak Obama is sworn into office on the bible of Abraham Lincoln as the
next President of the United States. Who would have thought that the
senseless and ruthless murder of Dr. King so many years ago would
actually propel the civil rights movement forward and not backward? A
tragedy? Yes. A victory? Only when God steps in... and step in He
did!
Our text today reminds us that
"all things work together for good." God can take the most tragic and
terrible situation and turn it for good. One of my true core values is
simple yet profound. My core value is this: God is good. That may
sound simple but that very truth has taken me through my own tragedies,
let downs and disappointments. It could serve to bring you hope and
grace in the midst of difficult days. Just as God used the death of
Dr. King to advance justice in our time, so too will He use what you
are going through to bring about good on your behalf. Have an amazing
day!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor J

I totally feel the same way. I know that God does not look at the tragedies of life like we do. We may not be able to see the good that will come out of a particular situation at the time, but we have to trust that God has a plan to use every situation for the good.
