1 Cor 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. ESV
I was a student at Howard Payne University and life was good. Then a phone call came that changed everything and sent my world into a tailspin. My mother had been rushed to the hospital with a severe heart attack. That was the longest four hour drive of my life as I made my way back to my home town to be with mom. She lived for 2 months and then passed away at the young age of 45. We were left stunned, shocked and bewildered. I was 24 at the time, but even then, to die at 45 seemed unreal and unfair.
I will be 47 in 9 days. The way I see it is I am living on "borrowed time." Actually it is "bought time," for you see, I have been bought with a price and the life I am now living is not even my own. That's a difficult concept for us here in the West. We pride ourselves on our independence and our ability to take care of our own affairs. But as a Christ Follower, a disciple of Jesus, I cannot claim any right to my life. I am his. I gave my life to him years ago. So I'm living on "bought time" and I live to glorify and magnify him... not me. Do you live with the reality that your life is not your own? Give it some serious thought today.
Grace and Peace,
